I recently acquired an Optimus Polaris stove and am wondering whether to use gas when available, or petroleum (similar to lamp oil). While traveling across Europe, gas cartridges are readily available, but they become hard to find outside of Europe. Carrying both a gas cartridge and a fuel bottle seems excessive.
Also, how long would 1 liter of petroleum last if I’m cooking one simple meal a day?
Consider using naptha, shellite, or white gas instead, and carry only the fuel bottle. To estimate your fuel needs, experiment at home using a scale to measure how much fuel you use per meal.

Where can I find white gas in Europe? I’m not sure how to translate this.
@Shai
Naptha, shellite, and white gas are all the same product, just under different names. However, it can be hard to find in many European countries as Coleman fuel is not widely available.

It’s still challenging to find in many EU countries due to the lack of Coleman products.
