I love going on quick weekend camping trips. I really dislike spending too much time setting up camp and I want to make my gear lighter.
I usually go camping alone or with a friend who stays in a separate tent. I drive there, but I don’t want to leave too much stuff in my car if I can avoid it.
Does anyone have any tips for keeping a tiny tent tidy? I need to fit a gas stove (I use the camping square one), pots, clothes, and food.
Right now, I use a vegetable rack with two shelves, which worked in my bigger tent, but it’s too awkward for this smaller space.
I’m not into backpacking, but I don’t like larger tents because 1) I get cold easily, and 2) I need something quick to set up. The sloping roof is the challenge when it comes to storage.
Any tips or hacks? Once my bed’s set up, I only have about 50cm by 1.5m of space left. It’s cosy

Don’t sleep with your pots and stove in your tent.
That’s one option, but my car isn’t always close to my tent so I’d have to keep going back and forth to the parking area (I’m in the UK). That’s why I was wondering if anyone had ideas for storage inside a small tent.
@Wei
I can’t leave them outside where I can’t see them, though. My pots and pans are lined up on the other side of my tent so I can keep an eye on them.
Are you trying to keep your large stove, pots, and food all in that tiny tent? Why? If you’re car camping, why not just get a plastic tote for everything?
Haha, I’m not backpacking, and the pocket rocket stove I have is too wobbly. I want something more stable than a jetboil.
You don’t need to keep everything in your tent. Stove, pots, pans—just put them in a garbage bag and leave them outside. Inside the tent, you only need your sleep system and backpack.
Ziplock Flexible totes are great! They come in big rectangular ones or smaller square ones. They fold down to almost nothing. I’ve got four in different sizes, and I just ‘grab and go’. The small square one should fit all your stuff and can go outside next to your tent in the vestibule. It’s covered and out of the way.
I live in an area with bears, so at first, I was really worried about keeping food inside my tent. But since you’re in the UK, I assume you don’t have the same animal concerns. A plastic tote in the vestibule is a great idea. It keeps things dry and is safe from theft too, since you’d hear someone right next to your tent.
Could you get a small table? We use a GCI slim fold table to organize our cooking gear and store other stuff. We leave it outside until it’s time to pack up.
One plastic waterproof tote for cooking gear and other stuff (ropes, flashlight, first aid kit). Keep it packed and ready to go. Store it in the vestibule.
Another waterproof, critter-proof tote for food (you might need a cooler). Put it in the vestibule too.
I have a Plano box with a latching lid for car camping. It keeps everything water-tight and can be shoved under the picnic table when I’m not using it. It’s a great solution, and I use it for storage when I get home.
