Looking for a USB-C lantern power bank that charges with a true USB C cable

Most of the cheap items on Amazon are ‘fake’ USB-C, charging only with an A-to-C cable and unable to charge devices from its USB-C port. I’m looking for something the size of a can of parmesan cheese, not something tiny like a ‘glow in the dark small rock’. Besides trial and error with purchases and returns, what are my options?

Check out the Sofirn BLF LT1, it’s a rechargeable lantern designed by BudgetLightForum with open source firmware. If you’re looking for a compact all-in-one solution, it might be challenging to find. ZebraLight’s headlamps are small and versatile. You can strap them to a bottle for a makeshift lantern effect. They require a separate PD charger or power bank and swapping 18650 batteries as needed. Here’s a link to their smaller lantern, the LT1s: Sofirn LT1s Lantern Link

Just buy this and be done. It’s the only answer.

I disagree. This lantern tends to shine light directly into your eyes rather than lighting up the surroundings effectively.

@Harlan
It depends on whether you want a lantern or a headlamp. The Sofirn can be adjusted to be very dim and you can change the color temperature. It’s great for family vacations, though maybe not for intense camping.

@Orion
I have one of these and it charges well with USB-C to USB-C. However, its PD output is limited. The LT1s’s water resistance could be better.

Sofirn LT1 might be what you’re looking for.

Maybe try a well-known camping store instead of Amazon? They might have more reliable options.

Actually, many camping stores are behind on modern flashlight technology. Even big brands like Black Diamond and Petzl are just catching up with what you can find on dedicated flashlight forums like r/flashlight.

I got a great lantern from Costco that works really well. It’s not just a light; it’s sturdy and reliable.

Consider Ledlenser. They have several models with USB-C and 18650 batteries that are versatile for both lighting and charging.

I use the Suprabeam D4r. It’s excellent, although it lacks power-bank capabilities.

Check out the Coleman One. It charges other devices and provides good lighting at a lower setting.

Have a look at Black Diamond’s Moji Power Station. It’s versatile and well-built for outdoor activities. Black Diamond Moji Power Station Link

Are you looking for something that supports USB-C PD? Not all USB-C devices support the full range of power delivery specifications.

Yes, I’m looking for true USB-C functionality, not just the connector type. Many devices are not fully compliant with the USB-C standard and don’t utilize the communication required for proper power delivery.

The Nite Ize Radiant RL2 Rechargeable Lantern might be what you’re looking for. It’s versatile and reliable.

I recommend looking at Camping Lights. They’re durable and offer good lighting with rechargeable capabilities. Camping Lights Link

There are other models with larger battery capacities. I have one, and it’s a fantastic light.
