Electric cook top or alternative?

I am starting my solo car-camping journey and am looking for the best cooking solution while on the road. My needs are very simple - I plan on just boiling water and heating up pre-made food. I have a Jackery 1000, so was thinking of buying a single electric hot plate (1000W) and using that. Any foreseeable issues? Should I be looking into anything else?

Because you’re maxing out your battery bank, the predictable problem is that you burn up all of the juice in a short amount of time.

Propane or white gas stoves are efficient and cheap. Get a 5lb or 11lb propane tank and refill when needed.

Use a gas system instead.

Hot plates draw more than a thousand watts, which will quickly drain your Jackary’s battery.

This would be a good place for a single burner system, such as the Fire Maple Saturn, Bulin 6000, etc.

Thank you for the suggestion!

It would be more efficient to use fuel stoves. Get a backpacker stove and a small camping pot if you’re merely boiling water; don’t use a conventional pot because their burners are small and easily tilted.

We “cook” on a Coleman two-burner camp stove, but when I travel alone, I boil water for tea or pasta using a Stanley Adventure Pot and MSR Pocket Rocket. Fuel-burning stoves should be used outside on a level surface because it’s simple to tilt the pot or entire burner over on a backpacking stove.
