Cold weather floor cover

What do you guys recommend for putting on the ground inside the tent? Expecting to camp in 30-50 degree weather this season and wanted to add a layer between my tent floor and my exped mattress. Not too worried about the temp, more just wanted some added comfort. Will also be taking my dog for the first time so don’t want to risk him tearing the bottom. (85lb golden)

I saw someone suggest the furniture moving blankets from harbor freight as a good option.

Moving blankets, surplus wool blankets, Mexican blankets

I use moving blankets for warmth. Where I step I put down an old sheet and in front of the door use a dollar store welcome mat to keep things clean since I have no idea how the moving blanket will hold up being washed.

I’ve used a cheap down comforter from TJ Maxx

I use these: https://a.co/d/9kV4fte

They provide some insulation as well as cushioning.

Second the Eva foam mats. Went camping in 30°F weather. Didn’t feel even a chill.

I lined my truck bed and roof with those.

I have a vinyl backed wool tarp as a floor covering that I bought from the army surplus store some 20 years ago. Still works great.

Nemo Switchback accordion pad from REI. Backpackers use them R2 heat value. This is what they are for.

Easy option is cardboard you can open them up or just go with them flattened. Cardboard double layer has a R value of 19. You can put blankets down after the cardboard. I was homeless in Seattle for 2 years. I used pallets to create a structure for around my canopy and used taps to cover my tent. I found a place where nobody could see me or even knew I was there. My setup was always clean no garbage or crap left behind or outside. My wall I made from pallets I painted dark green to blend in. With large boxes broken down flat i layered them on the ground then placed my heavy blanket on top and I had a cot side table and a chair to relax in.

I use Alu matte.

I have a small tent, so I just use a yoga mat on the ground next to my mattress. My mattress is similar to Exped in terms of warmth and comfort, so I don’t need next layer underneath. The yoga mat is for the area not covered by the mattress. It provides some warmth and cushion/comfort under my feet or knees. I have seen some campers using a small area rug to line the floor.

Furniture moving pads are great for this. If you want to invest for repeated use, the sewn and quilted ones. If you DGAF, the cheap felted ones.

If you’re car camping you can bring a few moving blankets.
