Wife wants to go camping

I have not been camping in over 15 years. I still have my 1.5p alps tent but a lot has changed, figured I can’t fit my pregnant wife and my dog (cattle dog mix) all in the tent lol. This will probably be base camping. Wondering suggestions on tents and if I should go for a 4p or a 6p.

In the tent, cut costs. Walmart or Costco for a Coleman or Kelty.

For sleeping, 4p will work well for you. You’ll have space to spread out with 6p. It simply depends on your desires.

Get her a good sleep system, especially now that she’s expecting! You’ll want to sleep on something cozy.

When purchasing sleeping bags, you can cut costs, but be sure the ISO rating is far lower than the temperature you anticipate. In case it gets too hot, you may always unzip it.

I’m gonna second the costco tent. I have an ez up tent I got from costco for car camping a decade ago, and I love it. It’s heavy and bulky but it’s durable and easy to use. My backpacking gear costs considerably more, but I absolutely love that tent when car camping.

For car camping, I’d actually consider an inflatable queen mattress. One that’s like a foot deep. Make sure it has a battery powered pump instead of requiring an outlet. Make sure that a majority of reviews don’t say “this stupid thing leaks and I ended up sleeping on the ground.” That’s probably not gonna be the $20 one from target, unfortunately. For the sleeping bags, I have 2 large rectangular sleeping bags (flannel lining) that I zip together to make a big bed. I have a down blanket that can go on top of that if things get cold. We’ve never needed it in the tent, but it’s nice to wrap up with in the morning. Bring the dog his normal dog bed. He’s not here to ruff it (ha, I kill me).

Get a camp loveseat. It’s great to have by the fire (don’t bring the down throw near the fire, get a fleece blanket if you want snuggling by the fire under a blanket). Make sure it’s weight rated appropriately, and if there’s a tie, pick the one with the higher sitting height.

Lastly, get an instant up tarp. If your site has a picnic table, put it over the table and anchor it with the shepherd hooks it likely comes with. Having a place to avoid direct sunlight is nice.

Bam, combine with a cooler and cooking stuff, you’ve now filled your trunk.

Ozark Trail instant six person, Coleman, or Core. For your expectant wife, get a REI kingdom cot.

Get the wife a tent that she can stand in. I’m not a baby, but getting up to enter and exit my tent—and to stand inside in general—makes a big difference for me because I have back problems.

Get her a decent crib or a good sleeping pad if she can get up and down off the ground. Just before my most recent camping trip, I purchased an Exped Megamat, and I heartily endorse it. As a side sleeper, it is far more comfortable than anticipated and keeps you off the ground.

Set up a fast pop-up tent for six people. easier for everyone, particularly the animals and the wife. Space to stand, stretch, and wake up

How chilly is it in your location?

How much do you have to spend?

Think about a four-season tent if it’s currently freezing there. She will truly value having a heated tent, even though it isn’t quite winter camping season yet.

In addition, there are caps, jackets, gloves, mittens, leggings, and heated socks.

Although pregnant women are not delicate, don’t allow her to become anxious due to her surroundings.
