@Ari
It’s wild how butane cans are just $4.99 for four at Asian grocery stores, but $7.99 each at camping stores. They must sell so cheap because they’re used all the time.

You can find really hot-burning butane at smoke shops for way less too, but I didn’t know Asian stores sold them so cheap. That’s a great tip!
@Franz
Who even thinks up these things? Like, ‘Let’s make weed into goop, heat up a crystal like it’s crack, but for weed!’

But hey, it tastes so much better!

Honestly, probably just a bunch of stoners experimenting.

I think the cheaper ones are pure butane, so they have lower pressure compared to the propane blends in camping gas. The cans are thinner and cheaper to produce. The premium ones, like Iwatani or Soto, are sturdier and cost more because they can handle the higher pressure.

In my experience, those cheaper canisters don’t burn as hot. They’re fine for warming or light cooking, but for things like searing a steak or boiling lots of water, you’d need something better.
@Ari
I’ve totally used my little dab torch to start fires. It’s also handy for searing food after cooking over an open flame. Love the versatility!
@Ari
At my local H-Mart, they sell these upstairs in the small satellite store. They even have portable burners that fit a wok for just 12 bucks.
What would you even use these for?

It’s for making fire, simple as that.

Does it have an ignition mechanism, or do you need a lighter to start it? I’m new to winter camping and curious.
@Ren
You’ll need a lighter to get it going.
@Ren
Most cheap ones from smoke shops have a built-in ignition button, similar to mini camping stoves. Not sure how well butane works in really cold weather though.

Fire good. That’s all I need.
I got one of these too. Super fun, but they burn through butane fast! Snow Peak makes cool stuff.
Whoa, this is awesome!
I wanted to love this, but it not self-igniting and stopping when tilted downward was a dealbreaker for me.
This is cool! I’ve used my pocket rocket to loosen stuck bolts on my truck, but this looks easier to handle.
