What makes you think that camping is "a bit of a crazy"?

I frequently hear individuals claim they would never camp in a tent when I tell them I enjoy going camping. Using the restroom outside at night is one of the causes. Well, when I’m all cuddled up in my sleeping bag, I don’t want to get out, but you have to go when you have to go. Besides, every time I open the tent, I’m usually treated to a starry, clear sky that makes me feel incredibly fortunate. anything that never happens to me when I have to use the restroom at home.

I don’t know how crazy it is, but the main reason I enjoy camping is because it puts me back in touch with what I believe nature intended for us in a very intimate and immediate way.

Because i hate people… nah, joking.

But i really like it to be completely alone out there, phone switched off and simply being a part of nature again for a while.

Btw, a pee bottle/bucket helps a lot with not having to leave your shelter for peeing at night.

Being the only child of a charming, narcissistic absentee father, I was a lonely and bookish child. My mom resided in the Deep South, and he was an Outward Bound instructor in Minnesota. It was some of the hardest days I’ve ever spent, but I spent many summers at what is now Voyageur Outward Bound attempting to be the outdoorsy, adventurous mini-me he desired. He wanted me to act like an adult at nine, and he forbade me from sobbing while canoeing.

Despite the emotional upheaval of those journeys, I fell in love with that region of the earth, and one day in Mississippi always seems just like northern Minnesota as I go out the front door.and my heart yearns because it feels exactly like northern Minnesota.

Three years ago, my spouse passed very unexpectedly. I had gotten a tattoo of a loon while on my honeymoon in the Boundary Waters. I want to get a barred owl for my father, who passed away in April, so he can communicate with it. Or at least make them get close enough to be confused.

I’m going up there on my first solo vacation next year, when I turn 56, to celebrate the two guys who have had the biggest influence on my life. I doubt I would have planned to go canoeing for ten days on my own or even spent a night in a tent without my dad. While kayaking, there will be tears, and my soul needs that.

My crazy is building a nest. I look forward to setting up my camp site the most. I enjoy making my camp kitchen, sleeping, and bathroom areas as organized and functional as possible, and I really like utilizing/petting all of my cool gear and gadgets.
