What are my options for a melted Jetboil

If it’s just the sleeve, they have been replaceable at least in the past; they sold a lot of color and style options. I replaced mine when the flame heat sensor wore out.

Awesome, thanks! I didn’t realize these were so expensive. Got it as a gift. Got a bunch of food stuck to the bottom now, smh. How do I not mess the coating up getting it back to normal? Water only for now on!

@Jude
Yeah, we only boil water in there, rehydrate food, and make drinks mostly. If there’s food stuck inside, a long soak might help.

Yeah, I’ll do a long soak. I got all pissed last night and scraped the shit out of it with a spoon, so hopefully didn’t mess up the coating. Definitely only doing rehydrated foods or a grill next time.

@Jude
Lol, people downvoting you like you scraped THEIR Jetboil. Hope you’re able to clean it up!

People on Reddit are out of their minds lol. How do you even see downvotes?

@Jude
Is there actually a coating? Pretty sure it’s just raw titanium.

I think they’re all aluminum now. I had an original titanium and apparently they kept having issues with the aluminum heat spreader unwelding itself from the titanium pot, which happened to mine. That said, I’m pretty sure there isn’t a coating.

@Jude
It’s only meant for water. No food in this style Jetboil.

Cut the melted part off.

Not a bad idea; I’ll try some surgery on it before tossing when I get home!

Jetboil used to sell the sleeves. Also, there is 100% a cheap Chinese knock-off sleeve available on Amazon, I would bet.

I’ve done that too—don’t worry about it—just rotate the burnt bits so you can’t see them :joy:.

My kind of person right here.

That happened to mine when I tried to pour a bit of boiling water out while the flame was still on. I just use it anyway, only now I remember to turn it off first. If it bothers you, just order a new sleeve.

Replace the outside sleeve; the inside is metal. I am happy to take it off your hands. DM me if you plan on throwing it away.

It’s okay to make mistakes and learn from them. The product is called Jetboil. It boils water very effectively. Doing anything else with it is doing something that the manufacturer essentially did not intend. That includes trying to cook food in it. If you boil water, people can add food that is dehydrated or freeze-dried and let it reconstitute inside the container. I don’t do that either; I only boil water with mine.

@Harlow
Thanks for this comment; I appreciate it! Yeah, from now on, no more fancy meals and just using those dehydrated meals. Taste good and are easy.

I’ve always been happy with my MSR stove and titanium pot. You can always buy some reflective foil insulation and just make your own to fix this issue.
