So I see they are going out of business and tents are super cheap. I’m a tall cyclist that does events where you need to car camp. I wanted some new gear as I used a cheap Walmart tent last year, which was small and not sure about its longevity. I was thinking about getting the space camp 6. It’s like $175 after taxes and everything, which is within my budget. I remember Eureka making good tents when I was younger, are they still decent quality? With them going out of business, I probably won’t have support down the road, but not a big deal if the tent can last at this price.
Eureka still maintains good quality in their tents. Make sure you choose one with durable materials like aluminum poles and a full-coverage fly. I own an El Capitan 3 and it’s fantastic, very sturdy and reliable in all weather conditions.
@Phoenix
Absolutely agree, the El Capitan 3 is excellent. I’ve had mine for over a decade with regular use, and it’s still going strong. It was very disappointing to hear Eureka! is closing. I even picked up another model, the Solitaire AL, during their sale.
Their tents are definitely solid. The closing sale makes them a great deal. I’ve been using several Eureka tents for over 20 years without needing any warranty service. Their durability is commendable.
I use a Space Camp 4 for car camping, and it’s spacious and comfortable. As someone around 5’2", I can stand up in it easily, so it should be good for your height.
The Space Camp 6 will give you plenty of room, especially for bike storage or maintenance inside if needed. It’s held up well for me in various conditions.
Eureka’s quality hasn’t dropped; they’re still making great tents. While future support might be limited, the current discount prices make it worth buying an extra as a backup. I’ve stocked up on a few more tents recently for this very reason.
@Hollis
Thanks for the feedback! I’m considering the larger size mainly for the ability to stand up comfortably inside while changing, which is a big plus for me as a taller individual.
