Trail guides and other books

Hi folks:

I used to go hiking and camping regularly but had to drop off for a while due to health issues. I’m now getting back to more regular outings, but likely will never get to the same level of long trips and backpacking as before.

I have a whole passel of trail guides, camping advice books, and so on, published between 2000 and 2010, or maybe a little later. I’m wondering if there’s any utility for most of these—trails and best practices do change over time. If I don’t keep any for myself, I have some places I could give them away, but I’m wondering if it’s a bad idea to give people dated information or if I should offer it and let folks make up their own minds.

For what it’s worth, if I have to toss them, they’re all paperback, and my local trash system takes that for recycling.

Thanks

I still use some of my earlier ones as a guide, but I’ll verify the real routes online because some of them have changed over time.

They’re not that ancient, and if someone wants them, they’ll realize that not all of the information may be up to date. Although they still sell them, I myself prefer maps that can be downloaded online to trail guides, so obviously some people find them useful.
