We recently bought a Wawona 6 and have only used it on 2 trips. The most recent trip had a lot of heavy rain and the Wawona 6 was great for this, except for the “zipper flaps” over the zippers for the two vestibule doors. These flaps seemed to really collect water. The best way to describe it is that the flaps essentially turned into go-gurt tubes full of water. We had to slowly squeeze the water out before packing up the tent.
If you have a Wawona 6 & have camped in heavy rain is this just a flaw of the tent, or did we get one with flaps that are not properly water sealed? The rest of the tent had no issues with water leaking through seams.

I wonder if this is unique given the popularity of this tent and the lack of comments. I’m going to buy this tent as my next purchase.

This tent is mine, and I’ve used it in several really rainy situations! I’ve never seen water get through it there, much less remain and need to be taken out.
It’s probably a tent defect, so I would contact TNF!

Thank you! This is what I had hoped as we really love the tent! We bought it from REI so we’ll likely exchange it with them

I’m not sure why someone would purchase a tent with a fly that only extends halfway to the ground.

Despite two to three days of nonstop, intense rain, the inside of the tent remained completely dry. There is no problem with the rain fly’s length. The flaps over the vestibule zippers collecting water was the only problem we had; the tent did not leak any water inside.
