I’m looking for recommendations on the best rechargeable headlamps. I’ve been considering brands like Black Diamond and Petzl, but I find them a bit pricey. I’m interested in models that offer a good balance of lumens and battery life. Any suggestions?
Check out Fenix brand headlamps. They are well-built and reliable, even under rough use.

I own several Fenix products including a headlamp, and they’ve lasted years without any issues. Highly recommend!
@Shan
Agreed, I have two Fenix headlamps, one is eight years old and the other three. Both still work perfectly.
Consider Nitecore, especially models like NU20 Classic or NU25. They’re popular, lightweight, and have good battery life. The controls might seem clunky to some, but they’re manageable.

The NU25 is my go-to headlamp, and I’ve gifted it several times because it’s that good.

Nitecore’s quality is solid across the board, even their non-rechargeable models are impressive.
I’ve been very satisfied with my Nitecore headlamp.
Sofirn headlamps are worth a look. The SP40 model, for instance, offers 1200 lumens and uses a replaceable 3000mAh 18650 battery. It’s great for situations where you might not be able to recharge regularly.
@Brett
I second Sofirn; they provide great value for the performance.
Both Petzl and Black Diamond are reliable brands. Black Diamond fits better during active use, while Petzl offers better illumination.
You might consider getting a rechargeable battery to use in a standard headlamp. This way, you’re not limited to only rechargeable models.
Sofirn provides some of the best value in rechargeable headlamps currently.
The Petzl Actik Core allows for either regular batteries or a rechargeable battery, making it versatile and cost-effective.
Consider using rechargeable battery packs with models that are originally powered by AAA or AA batteries. Petzl’s Core battery is a good example.
I’ve had a poor experience with a high-end Nitecore model that failed after a minor drop. Their light output is impressive, but durability might be an issue.
Petzl’s Zipka has lasted me over 20 years. They’re pricey, but the quality justifies the cost.
