Seeking Recommendations for Multiday Trekking Backpacks Suitable for Smaller Women

We are planning a multi-day camping trip in Scandinavia. While it’s easy for us guys to find suitable backpacks, my partner, who is around 165cm (5’4") and has a slim/sporty build, is struggling to find a good fit. She’s looking for something not too small for a multi-day trip (ideally 60-70 liters), in a muted color like black or olive-green, and not designed too broadly like many men’s backpacks. We’ve checked brands like Osprey and Deuter but haven’t found the right fit or style. Any recommendations for high-quality, comfortable backpacks would be greatly appreciated!

Osprey and Deuter both offer women’s packs in the 50+ liter range in various non-pink colors like teal, green, and grey. If she hasn’t found one in these brands that suits her, maybe check again or consider the possibility that the fit might be an issue rather than color or size.

@Hal
Thanks for the suggestion! We might have missed some options, so we’ll take another look. She tried an Osprey but it didn’t fit well. Do you know how consistent Osprey’s sizing is, or if other brands might offer better sizing?

@Hartley
Sizing can vary even within the same brand. It’s crucial to measure her torso length to find the right fit. Osprey is generally good with their sizing guide, but she might also try different models or even look at youth sizes for a better fit.

She might like the Osprey Eja, which comes in more neutral colors like grey and is available in smaller sizes that might fit her frame better. It’s designed specifically for women and could be a good fit for her needs.

Have you checked out Big Agnes? They offer packs in subdued colors and might have the right fit. It’s best to try them in person if possible to get a feel for the comfort and fit.

Great, I hadn’t thought of Big Agnes. I’ll see if any local stores carry them so she can try them on. Thanks for the tip!

Check out Teton Sports. They offer adjustable backpacks that are great for smaller frames and available on Amazon. Might be worth a look!

The REI Co-op Flash 55 might be a good option. It comes in extra small sizes and olive green, designed specifically for women, and is known for comfort on longer treks.

My wife uses the Gregory Facet 45 and finds it perfect for her size. It’s available in several colors and is designed for smaller frames.
