I’m searching for a GPS device that allows me to mark specific locations during my hikes and provides navigation back to these spots later. I don’t need extremely precise measurements, but it should be accurate enough for general location marking when I’m outdoors. The device should work independently of smartphones as I often hike in areas with poor cell reception and prefer not to rely on my phone.

I prefer not to use my phone due to signal issues in the areas I hike, and I usually leave my phone behind.

Your phone can still use GPS to mark locations without a data connection. Apps like Google Maps allow you to download map areas for offline use, which might solve your problem without needing another device.

Exactly, GPS functionality is global and works independently of mobile data. You just need to have the right maps downloaded before you head out.
