Non-plastic alternatives to Nalgene?

I lost my Nalgene bottle recently and was about to buy another one, but after talking with some friends and reading up on microplastics, I’m reconsidering. I’m now curious about non-plastic alternatives that would be good for multi-day backcountry hiking. Ideally, something lightweight and durable.

I was thinking about SIGG, but I’m not sure about the safety of their bottle lining. Any suggestions?

There was a similar discussion on another forum, and the best option seems to be titanium bottles. They’re lightweight but durable, though you’ll have to accept a weight penalty compared to plastic. A titanium bottle will still be your best bet to avoid plastic. Check out this thread on hydration systems for more info.

Stainless steel is a great alternative. Kleen Kanteen makes some solid ones.

I’d recommend Klean Kanteen as well. It’s made of stainless steel, and mine has been through a lot. Even my kids, who destroy everything, haven’t managed to break theirs yet!

You could go for a Vargo titanium para bottle, though it’s a bit pricey at around $150.

Hydroflask makes a trail series that’s relatively lightweight for stainless steel bottles.

Nalgene also makes a stainless steel version, as well as bottles made from HDPE. You could look into those.

Thanks, but I’m looking for a narrow version, and it seems Nalgene doesn’t offer one in stainless steel.
