I’m considering getting this fleece from Helikon-Tex. It’s got all the features I want—tons of pockets, pit zips, double layers with grid fleece and heavy fleece—but I’m not super into the tacticool look.
I’d prefer to avoid down or synthetic fill jackets since I want something I can wear hard without worrying about it. My current fleece has held up for years through all sorts of adventures, and I’d like another like it that’s super warm, not bulky, with a hood and plenty of storage.
I found this one for around $103 NZD, so it’s a good deal. Just thought I’d see if there’s anything similar with the same functionality but a less “airsoft field” vibe.

Agree on buying and altering it. If you remove the velcro, even in tan, it doesn’t scream tacticool. Pair it with a backpack and standard outdoor gear, and you’ll be good. It’s only really ‘tacticool’ with the whole setup.
For what it’s worth, I don’t think the Helikon-Tex jacket looks overly tacticool. It’s missing the Punisher logos and doesn’t look much different from what people wear for outdoor activities. Looks like a solid jacket—go for it!
