How to Repair the Interior of a Gore-Tex Jacket

How’d you go about fixing it ? GEAR AID tape?

It seems like the inner lining of the fabric is peeling off, affecting the jacket’s performance. Although it’s not the exterior, I recommend using tenacious tape for a quick fix. Also, keep an eye on other areas where the lining might begin to deteriorate.

I’d suggest laying it flat and applying some seam sealer, holding it down with weights as it dries. Tenacious tape might not adhere well due to the fabric transition, but it’s worth a try.

Thanks for the tips! From what I’ve researched, the damage seems limited to the polyester layer, which doesn’t affect waterproofness. I just want to prevent further tearing.

Exactly, the seam sealer works well as a flexible silicon-based mender for various materials. While not as crucial for waterproofing, it prevents further damage. Consider alternatives like rubber cement for a budget-friendly fix.

@Bly
That sounds like a good plan. I appreciate your input! It reassures me that the damage is mostly cosmetic and won’t compromise the jacket’s integrity. I’ll pick up some seam sealer soon.

For many waterproof jackets, the inner layer is mainly for internal structure and pocket support. It has some resistance to water but isn’t the main barrier against the elements. Keeping it intact helps maintain the jacket’s overall functionality.
