The threads are the same, but the collar on one is higher, and the very short adapter can’t get a tight seal. You need a different adapter. I can’t recommend any, as I haven’t tried them with that combo of canister.
@Sloan
The collar is not different, the adapter only threads on maybe two threads before it binds up. Something IS different about these threads

Your own photo shows the part of the valve body rubbing on the canister collar, causing the whole adapter to lean slightly.
@Sloan
Yeah, after the valve spins like 5 more threads onto the JetBoil canister. It won’t even engage the pin on the MSR can
The threading is the same. Most of those iso canisters are made in the same factory and just have different branding on them.
Be careful with those valve/transfer thingies. The canisters are not intended to be refilled.
I have the Flip Fuel adapter and it worked fine transferring Primus to MSR.
Have worked with and sold these for over a decade, they share the same lindal valve across the industry. I have absolutely seen some come with issues from factory such as crossed threads or botched stamping.
have you looked up why you shouldn’t refill these canisters?

Yes, I know the concerns and how to mitigate them. That knowledge does not solve my current problem though
They’re all literally made in the same factory, so should all be the same. Why don’t you just buy a new canister for $6?

I did buy a new canister, both my MSR canisters don’t work, neither do my girlfriends MSR canisters
I have a similar problem when trying to use my isobutane thermacell insect repeller with MSR canisters. All other brands so far have worked, but it seems MSR have slightly different dimensions with the collar.
Get a duel fuel Whisperlight and be done with those always half empty bottles. Gallon of Colman fuel lasts well over a season for the average hiker. $12.00
Alternatively, can anyone recommend an adapter brand which they know works?

“G works gas saver”. It’s made in Korea and of very good quality.
