Has anyone tried the Ampex 2p tent… is it worth it?

I’m new to backpacking and don’t want to spend too much on a lightweight tent. I saw the Ampex 2p on sale, and most reviews seemed okay. Does anyone here have experience with it? Is it worth the money? Also, how does it hold up in rain and wind?

I almost bought the Ampex, but I went with the 3F UL Floating Cloud 2 because I liked its look and the option of a mostly solid inner. I found a couple of reviews for the Ampex on YouTube when I was researching it, so you might want to check there.

If you like the Ampex style, the Floating Cloud, Paria Zion, and Naturehike Mongar are similar options. They’re all MSR Hubba Hubba clones, and there’s a lot of talk that they might come from the same factories, but with different quality control and materials.

I’m also here to see what people think about this tent.

I’ve seen this tent on Amazon before, and it’s usually overpriced. The Naturehike Mongar is a similar option, with the lightest version weighing 3.7 pounds and costing half the price. The Lavvis version is also similar, weighing around 4 pounds.

@Wylder
It’s on sale right now for $150, and it comes with the footprint and extra stakes. At 4 pounds, I thought it was a pretty good deal.

It’s not unique or special, but $150 is a good price for what you’re getting.

It’s a good basic tent. For the price and what’s included, it’s hard to beat.

Try using the search function.

@Marlon
I saw that post, but the person hadn’t tested it outside yet, and most comments were just asking about it or comparing it to other tents. I’m looking for feedback from people who’ve actually used it multiple times in different conditions.
