Marshalls of all places! Realistically this should be retail price.
Great buy at that price. I have one and absolutely love it. With the wood burning fire ban last year in Oregon, this was a lifesaver for warmth and creating a cozy atmosphere outdoors.
I tried making one of these myself and it cost more than what you paid. Great find!
I saw one at TJ Maxx around Christmas for about the same price as the REI sale price.
Can you explain how this works? I’m curious as I’ve never used one.

It’s essentially a propane burner that uses lava rocks to distribute heat and flame evenly. It’s perfect for regions like ours where traditional fires are often banned due to risks of embers.
Does the propane connector stick out, or is it retractable?

The connector sticks out on mine.

The original model has it sticking out, but the newer version is more integrated and comes with protective covers.
It’s great for campsites that don’t allow wood fires—super handy.
It’s pretty much a fancied-up ammo can. They must be making good money off these.

If you think this is expensive, you should see the prices on Lava Boxes.
I found one on clearance at Marshalls for $99. Thought I got a deal until I saw yours!

That’s still a great price for one of these.
What a great find! These are pretty sleek.
I’m still on the fence about getting one.

They don’t give off much heat from what I’ve experienced.

You can modify it to increase the flame output. Just need to adjust the propane inlet slightly—there are tutorials online.
@Ashton
Or get a LavaBox with a higher pressure regulator for bigger flames.
