Although I usually pack for one person, my girlfriend wants to go camping with me, so we’re going to camp in our car, and I want to make her something more substantial—and quicker—than I can on my own stove. Are there any propane car camping grills that you would suggest? If it were under $50, I would adore it, but even under $75 seems hard to find in a fast search.
There are several inexpensive tabletop barbecues available, but I am unable to suggest a single grill. I found a couple that were around $50 after a fast search. If you’re willing to use charcoal, you can get something much less expensive.
The $35 Walmart “Expert” grill is excellent; it cooks food better than more expensive models. Over the past 25 years, I’ve purchased 4-5 (it used to be $20). The only problems are rusting burners and fires caused by grease accumulation. Not only is it reasonably priced, but it’s a good portable barbecue all around. It does require assembly, which requires some time and a screwdriver and tool. The regulator must be taken out for storage because the burner protrudes. The grill becomes greasy, so I suggest keeping it in a box with padding and foil.
Good post. Regards! Do you know if the Coleman canisters can be swapped out for a propane tank?
A conversion hose must be purchased separately, but I did, and it functioned perfectly. No issues at all.
The conversion hose I purchased had a small O-Ring to seal it to the regulator, which is the only issue. The O-Ring became misaligned and began to leak when I took the hose off to use it with another device. I would advise purchasing a single hose for each gadget you wish to utilize with the tank and leaving it connected to the device rather than the tank. Much more robust is the end that connects to the tank. However, that probably has less to do with the grill and more to do with the hose I had.
Thank you very much.
They manufacture hoses that convert 20 lb or bulk tank propane to the 1 lb fitting that is utilized by MrHeater Buddy Heaters and Coleman stoves.
