It’s titanium. You can clean it with a blow torch if you like. Steel wool will fix your issues here.

Absolutely, just a light cleaning and it’s ready to go. Plus, it’s a Snow Peak, a reputable brand. I have a few of them as they tend to get lost easily!
Titanium is one of the metals they build replacement bone out of because it’s so safe. You could literally have it implanted in your arm and be fine, much less put it in your mouth
It’s fine just give it a good scrubbing, the marks mean nothing.
I found one of these while hiking the John Muir trail in 2011! I keep it in my work lunch bag and use it just about every day.

You cleaned it first, right?

Saliva is nature’s soap and water!
@Sky
LOL, OK, but do you spit and rub, or rub in your mouth then spit?

Use your tongue like a sponge!

I lost one on the PCT in 2015. I hope it found a good new home. Good idea to add a colorful strap on the end.
@Lane
It’s literally my favorite spork for work. I’ll never get rid of it.
I love my Snow Peak spork! Nothing wrong with it. Give it a wash and you’re good to go.
Safe? Like it will hurt you? It’s a metal spoon.

Don’t titanium sporks have coatings on them? I’m just wary about what the coatings are keeping inside sealed.

No, titanium doesn’t have coatings like that and is a very safe material. Scrub it well, use abrasives if needed, and you’re good to go.
@Rio
Thanks!

Scrub that stuff off the back, then clean it with bleach. That will work for 99% of the used things you buy to make sure they’re safe for you. If you’re worried about things having a coating of some kind, you can look it up on Google to find out.

Basically you’re worried that the titanium will hurt you, from what I understand. Titanium is so safe that we literally use it for implants. You can have titanium all up inside you and your body won’t care whatsoever. Titanium is one of the ‘safest’ (ie biocompatible) materials out there.
@Sky
This is basically the best answer. Titanium is an extremely safe metal for human use of pretty much any kind, whether that be utensils or implants. I’ve got five titanium anchors in my hip that were drilled into my pelvis, and while the dumb thing hurts all the time, I’ve never had any issues from the titanium itself. It really is a very safe material. Clean it well, and you’re golden.
