I’m looking for a good headlamp to use when camping. It should have a warm light (2700-3000k) and a red light option for when bugs get annoying. I also want it to have a removable and rechargeable battery.
I found the Nightcore UT27 Pro, which seems perfect with its warm light, red light, and USB-C rechargeable removable battery. However, reviews mention that the frame and hinge are cheaply made and break easily. Does anyone know of a similar light with better build quality and reasonable pricing?
I’ve heard about the Nightcore UT27 Pro before. It’s a solid choice in features, but the quality issues are concerning. Maybe look at reviews on camping-focused forums for alternatives.
Take a look at the Emisar D2. It has two channels, and you can customize the configuration. I have one with a Nichia 3000k LED and a red LED. It doesn’t come with a headband, but I use one from a Zebralight H52. You can also add a pocket clip and a magnetic tail cap for extra convenience.
I own the Nightcore UT27 Pro. The lamp hinge didn’t break, but the battery compartment cover did. The little nub holding the door snapped within a month of use. It’s annoying but still functional since the other tab clicks shut to keep it secure during use. Just be careful when opening it to change the battery.
Sofirn H25LR is another option. I found it recommended in flashlight forums. It’s inexpensive and checks a lot of your boxes, but it leans more toward cool light. Still worth checking out.

That’s a good suggestion. The Sofirn H25LR is on sale right now. It’s a bit big, but very functional. If you’re after warmer light, you could add a Sofirn HS-10 for about $20. It has a 4000k emitter, which is closer to warm white. For true 3000k, you might need something more specialized.
@Arden
I’ve always preferred cool light for headlamps. It’s brighter and more practical for seeing things clearly. Warm light might feel nice, but cool light is better for utility.

That’s fair! Cool light does have its advantages for visibility. I suppose the preference depends on the situation. For camping, I do enjoy having a mix of lights, including warm options for relaxing settings. It’s nice that there are so many choices these days.
For durability, I’d recommend Sofirn or Streamlight. If you’re looking for something inexpensive, the Energizer ones work great and often have a red light feature. Check for sales if you want to save even more.
