Best lightweight sun protection for running in warmer weather?

Looking for some advice on lightweight, sun-protective gear for running in warmer temps. It’s been getting really hot in the afternoons lately, and my current long sleeves are too heavy. I’ve heard Merino wool is an option, but that sounds way too warm for what I need.

I’ve been told sun protection arm sleeves could be a good alternative since they let air in under your arms and might be more comfortable than a full long-sleeved shirt. Sounds interesting, but I haven’t tried them yet.

I’d also love to hear if anyone has had success with specific brands. I’ve seen some talk about Patagonia Capilene Cool, and someone mentioned Manggear as an option for affordable sun protection gear that’s still comfortable for running. Does anyone have experience with any of these brands?

I have a couple of solar hoodies. Lightweight and do a good job.

I don’t have any experience with the T-shirt + sun sleeves option, but it seems worth a try, as it can’t be that expensive.

Wool sun hoodie from ridge merino has never let me down

Sun sleeves, 100%. I find them much cooler than a LS sun shirt/hoody - many have active cooling technology in the fabric - and more versatile because I can wear any short -sleeve I want, or change shirts if I want. Outdoor Research and Columbia make good ones.

Capilene Cool shirts are great though, both the Trail and the Daily.

I’ve found that sun sleeves are an excellent way to stay cool when running. Another good, breathable choice is Patagonia Capilene Cool!
