Self Explanatory, looking for a genesis basecamp system but don’t feel like paying out the nose for it if I don’t have to. Do they ever offer sales, or is there a reputable alternative that anyone could suggest? I’m upgrading what’s left of my old camping/backpacking gear and cook systems are one of the last things on my list.
Are you set on the basecamp? Take a look at the BRS 32… It’s cheaper and more compact. I’ve had one for a couple of seasons now and I love it. It takes isobutane but adapters for propane or butane are cheap. Got mine for $80 Canadian

Not totally set, I just like that it comes with the pots and carrying case together but I’m pretty flexible. I’m going to have an ultralight kit which has my pocket rocket in it, and I’m trying to put together a ‘light car camping or backpacking’ kit which was going to have the Basecamp in it.
While waiting for answers, I found a 20% off coupon for new users on CampMan but that seems to be the best thing out there. I was hoping to find a pre-owned one but it looks like they’re non-existent.
Check out this for backpacking. This is what I have and I love it. For car camping, I have a 2 burner Coleman for over a decade with no issue. 400 bucks for a cook system is too much in my opinion.

I just ordered this the other day, hopefully it fits on my cheap amazon stove, not sure on the angles of the 3 prongs will match the firemaple

The angles will be a problem. I had a BRS and in 30 seconds using a pair of pliers bent the arms so the fit. I saw some who enlarged the slots in the pot to accommodate their stove, but this just created sharp edges and was a permanent option.

Beauty of Amazon is that you can just turn around and return it if it doesn’t fit 
BTW, I got the kit from Firemaple, and this is what they were pairing the pot with at the time. This Stove goes for 20 bucks now.

I think they have 3 or 4 stoves that are compatible. I got the Buzz and while I haven’t used it yet I am impressed with first look.

I do have two of the Coleman stoves, one for some reason struggles at high altitude…I initially thought it was the gas canisters I have but I tried swapping brands and it still sputters for some reason.

As high as I can haha. I try to use 10k as a baseline and go up 12k-14k as routinely as possible.
They go on sale reasonably often, in my experience.
Throwing it out there as an alternative but the MSR Whisperlite is a classic and I love it. I bought mine years ago after using a friends who got his from his mom who got hers in the 80s. The price keeps going up little by little but the product roughly stays the same. Works at altitude, in weather, in cold, wherever. It’s not UL but I only bring it out when I want something rock solid.

Cooking ‘systems’ like Jetboil are mostly ‘for’ people who would be better off with simpler solutions.
