I have a $100 gift card to spend at Cabela’s/Bass Pro Shops. I’m open to anything like camping gear, fishing, cooking, or clothing. I don’t hunt at all. Any recommendations for the best way to spend this in Canada? Thanks!
What do you need? Your options are extensive at that price range, especially at a store like Cabela’s.

I’m not sure, honestly. I’m open to suggestions on anything useful.
Depending on your activities, you could consider a Jetboil if you’re into backpacking, or a larger stove for car camping. Other versatile suggestions include a quality headlamp, a reliable knife or camp axe, bear spray, freeze-dried food, or even a fishing rod. If you often find yourself out of cell coverage, consider putting it towards a satellite communicator like an Inreach or Spot.
I like to use gift cards for luxury items that I wouldn’t normally buy, like camp kitchen gadgets or upgraded camping furniture. These are ‘nice to have’ rather than essentials, making the gift card feel like a real treat.
A good pocket knife, a multi-tool, or a durable flashlight are all great general-use items that fit within your budget.
Consider an ice fishing rod, line, and some jigs if you enjoy fishing.
I recommend the Cabela’s Mountain Trapper sleeping bag. It’s a bit over $100, but it’s excellent. Also, consider a Swiss Army Knife; I carry a Super Tinker daily and find it very handy.
Bear spray is a practical choice, especially in Canada where wildlife encounters are more common.
Check out the Goal Zero Crush Light Chroma Lantern. It’s solar rechargeable and very handy for camping.
Cabela’s has excellent wool clothing, although most pieces are above the $100 mark.
While you can find gear and tackle at similar prices elsewhere, Cabela’s clothing and boots offer good value.
Gift cards are great for splurging on items you wouldn’t usually buy, like a higher-end fishing rod or a Leatherman multitool. Always wait for sales at Cabela’s, as they often rotate discounts.
If you enjoy car camping, consider their 25k BTU cooking stove. It’s quite good but could use a better regulator. Otherwise, a pocket knife or bear spray are solid choices. They also carry high-quality items from Sea to Summit.
